The conduction of the Kamchatka Tsunami Workshop wouldn't be possible without a direct financial support provided by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (Grant No. 1996-05- 74050) and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (Contract No. SC/RP 207.531.6). The National Science Foundation greatly contributed to the success of the Workshop through the support of participation of 6 leading US scientists. Also, we recognize the support of the International Tsunami Information Center (Honolulu, USA) and the Tsunami Research and Coordination Center (Moscow, Russia) in providing communication service and other logistics in the workshop arrangement. The Computing Center of the Siberian Division of Russian Academy of Sciences took responsibility for disseminating of formal visa authorization letters and coordinating of all domestic arrangements.

Our special thanks to those local institutions in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy that provided their premises, staff, equipment and other logistics for the workshop conducting, first of all, the Institute of Volcanology of the Far East Division of Russian Academy of Sciences as well as the Institute of Volcanic Geology and Geochemistry, Kamchatka Center for Monitoring of Seismic and Volcanic Activity, Kamchatka Regional Seismological Survey. At the Headquarters of the Kamchatka Regional Administration we found the encouraging support of our decision to select Petropavlovsk- Kamchatskiy as the workshop venue.
